Local Sightseeing
Just let us know where you want to go, and we will make all the arrangements. You can combine local spots and excursions to plan a half-day or full-day itinerary. We will be happy to help you decide on a side trip, according to your time and convenience.
Vazhalikkavu Temple — Just 800 metres from the property, the sweeping green paddy fields around the temple, 400-year-old ‘koothumadam’ (a rustic theatre where ‘Tholpavakoothu’, a kind of puppetry show, is performed) the weather-beaten banyan tree, and the nearby Bharathapuzha river provide a feast for the eyes.
Varikkasseri Mana — About 3 km from the property, it’s a prominent shooting site for Malayalam films, with several commercially successful films shot there, including Devasuram, Aaraam Thampuran, and Rappakal. It is one of Kerala’s oldest aristocratic Namboothiri family mansions, built at the turn of the 20th century.
Musical Dancing Fountain — Known as ‘Punchiri Padam’ locally, it is located about 2 km away. It features a one-acre pond, where people can indulge in angling and buy their catch, and an impressive colour laser fountain show (watch out for the replica of the merlion of Singapore) at night on weekends and holidays.
Chinakathoor Temple — About 8 km away, the temple’s renowned annual festival features the most extensive lineup of elephants after the Thrissur Pooram festival, attracting hordes of enthusiasts from all over.
Choolannur Pea Fowl Sanctuary — A short drive of 12 km, it is the only sanctuary of its sort in Kerala (the location is known locally as Mayiladumpara, which means ‘the rock where peacocks dance’). Aside from peacocks, hundreds of bird species can be found here.
